Geer Foundation Supporters include: 668 Individuals, 50 Corporations, 28 small Businesses and 11 Foundations.
The Campus Community Fund
Contributions to Geer Foundation make it possible to provide services that enhance the quality of life for those who live on campus and for those who use our many support services. When we receive unrestricted donations, we have the opportunity to expand services that are not covered by fees or government reimbursements. Our staff can also receive support for educational opportunities through a scholarship fund.
Geer Foundation's Capital Campaign "Caring For All Ages":
Geer is in the final phase of a three phase Capital Campaign "Caring for All Ages". We have completed phase I, Beckley House and Phase II, Geer Village. The third and final stage is for Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
We started with $1.5 million from bequests, and added $4.15 million from federal and state governments. Board members and five town Capital Campaign Committees raised $1.7 million from corporations, foundations and individuals. The remaining dollars to be raised will be determined by the cost of Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Ways to Give
Charitable gifts can take many forms. All gifts, of any size, are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and are greatly appreciated.
Outright Gifts
Cash - Gifts of cash, by check or credit card, are available for immediate use by the hospital and are normally fully deductible, to the extent allowed by law, for donors who itemize deductions.
Appreciated Securities - Gifts of long-term appreciated securities such as stock, bonds or mutual funds shares may be deducted at the fair market value of the securities on the date of the gift, and may provide the donor the further benefit of avoiding taxes on the capital gains portion of the gift.
Other Assets - Gifts of real estate, art objects, personal property and life insurance may be used to make a charitable gift.
Pledges - Pledges provide prospective donors with additional flexibility in planning a gift and often enable a larger contribution to be made. Donors make a pledge commitment over a mutually agreed upon period of time.
Planned or Deferred Gifts
Your Legacy to Geer
As part of your long-range financial planning, you may wish to make a planned or deferred gift, a gift that will be received after you have provided for your loved ones and yourself. Planned or deferred gifts may save taxes and fulfill your charitable plans.
Life Income Gifts
- Charitable Remainder Unitrust
- Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust
Life income gifts provide the donor with income while making a deferred gift to Geer. These life income trusts are usually managed by an external trustee designated by the donor. Life income gifts can offer an immediate income tax deduction, and often convert non-income producing assets into stable income streams for the donor and his/her family.
Life Insurance Policy - The donor can designate Geer as the Beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
Bequests -The easiest planned gift is to name Geer in your Will.
Qualified Pension Plan, IRS, Keogh, 401(k) or 403(b) - You designate Geer as a beneficiary of all or a portion of such a plan.
Geer Legacy Society
With a Bequest or a Planned Gift, you can create a legacy, which will help ensure a healthy future for Geer and our community from generation to generation. By informing the Foundation of your intent to include Geer in your Will or Estate Plan, you will became a member of the Legacy Society and be listed, unless you wish to remain anonymous, on the Legacy Honor Roll in the main lobby.
The Geer Foundation is ready to work with you, your attorney and your financial advisor to develop the best way to benefit your loved ones, yourself, save taxes, fulfill your charitable plans and support the future of Geer.
