Activities/Therapeutic Recreation Assistant

Geer Village Senior Community is a non-profit organization and a community of seniors that live and receive care on our campus. Our residents, caregivers, families, staff, neighbors, volunteers and friends rely on us to provide the highest quality of care every single day.

We are looking for an energetic, self starter who will be responsible for enriching our residents’ lives at Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center by providing high quality activities. Some of your other tasks include but are not limited to:

Charting of the Therapeutic Recreation Care Plans and assuring that the plans are carried out in compliance with State regulation.

In conjunction with the Inter Disciplinary team, participate in a written comprehensive care plan for each resident that identifies the needs, care to be given, measurable goals and the specific time frame.

Assist with the assessments of new admissions/re-admissions with the resident, family, and other appropriate personnel.

Provides daily activity bulletins which include day, date, weather, activities and programs to be conducted, and their location and time.

Assists with the preparation of programs including buying or ordering materials and room set up and coordinating with other staff if needed.

Transports and assists residents on community outings and to and from daily activities.

Experience with the senior community and understanding of dementia care principles and ability to adapt activities to meet the needs of residents with cognitive impairments a plus. A CNA license is not required but helpful.
