Geer Nursing Covid Notice 9-23-2022

Geer Nursing Covid Notice 9-23-2022

Today we must report that 2 staff members have tested positive for Covid-19 at Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The cases are community acquired with no exposure to other residents or staff.

This is a reminder that COVID-19 is still very active in the northwest corner of CT, and we must all take precautions when out in public. The COVID-19 positivity rate in Litchfield County is around 12.8%. We are not restricting visitation but want to remind you that you should not visit when you are sick or have been exposed to anyone with known or suspected COVID-19. If you have any questions about your symptoms or an exposure and if you should be visiting, we encourage you to call Ellen Farnham, Infection Preventionist at 860-824-3861 or Cady Bloodgood, Director of Nursing at 860-824-3825.

We will notify you immediately and provide guidance regarding treatment options if we determine that your loved one has been exposed, or tests positive for the virus.  Fortunately, Geer’s vaccination/booster rate is close to 100%. When individuals do become ill their symptoms tend to be less severe and they recover quickly.  All staff and residents will be monitored closely.  We will continue to post regular updates on our website at www.geercares.org.

We need your help in battling Covid-19 – As we have learned, vaccination is not a guarantee against infection. Please visit the CDC website to learn how you can help prevent the spread in our community at https://portal.ct.gov/Coronavirus.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to keep our residents safe.
