Geer Outpatient Physical Therapy Announcement
August 16, 2022
The pandemic has eased, leaving serious financial challenges in its wake. At Geer, we are coping with a decline in resident occupancy, rising inflation and energy costs, an increasingly complex regulatory environment, and inadequate reimbursement from insurance plans, particularly Medicare and Medicaid.
Geer, like any other business that experiences a loss in income, must adjust what we spend. That means we must focus on our core mission, increase efficiencies and improve cash flow.
Geer’s Outpatient Physical Therapy has been an important part of the continuum of care that Geer provides since the early 1990’s. Today we are making the difficult but necessary decision to downsize and change the service delivery in our Outpatient Physical Therapy Department.
Going forward we will focus on our core mission of serving residents that live on our campus, including those living at the Lodge. This means community access to our Outpatient Physical Therapy will be ending on Friday, 9/16/2022. All current active patients will receive notice that we will be winding down treatment by Friday 9/16/22.
We recognize this represents a dramatic change and we apologize for any inconvenience this causes. We will work with our community patients to help them transition to new providers over the coming days and weeks. We will do everything we can to minimize the impact on those affected.
If you have questions regarding your treatment, patient records, or referral options please contact the Outpatient Physical Therapy office at (860) 824-3820.
