Nursing Center Covid-19 Update 4/7/2021
To our Residents and Family Members:
We want to keep you informed regarding the status of Covid-19 cases at Geer Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. This week’s testing resulted in one additional positive resident and one additional positive staff member. It was not unexpected that this resident tested positive as they were known to have previously been exposed. All other residents and staff tested negative. We will continue to test twice per week until we produce two weeks of all negative results.
Residents who test positive remain isolated in a separate positive/exposed unit so they are isolated from the rest of the building. We will notify you immediately if your loved one should test positive or become symptomatic of Covid-19.
This chart illustrates the current status:
|Cum. + cases since 03/2020||Active cases||Deaths||Recovered|
We continue to be in communication with all health officials. The State Department of Public Health visited last week to observe our facility and protocols and did not find any deficiencies with our systems or practices.
All Geer staff practice strict infection control procedures, and we are doing everything we can to keep your loved ones safe and healthy. Please keep in mind that over 95% of our residents and over 85% of staff have received both doses of the vaccine.
Some of the individuals who have tested positive are vaccinated, which indicates the severity of this virus. Since they have no or very mild symptoms, we are confident that the vaccine is effective and are thankful for such a great participation rate within our facilities.
As we address this outbreak, we must adhere to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines and continue to limit in-person visitation and offer virtual and window visits on a scheduled basis through our recreation department. To schedule a visit, please contact Jill Simmons, Recreation Director at 860-824-3831 or email@example.com.
We understand that connecting with your family members is incredibly important to you and our residents, and you are encouraged to continue to connect virtually. We will keep everyone informed as we move forward. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
