Nursing – Covid-19 Notice 10-3-2021
October 3, 2021
To Our Staff, Residents and Family Members:
We are writing to update you on the Covid-19 situation at Geer Nursing. As stated previously, we completed a full round of testing on our residents and staff. Unfortunately, this testing has resulted in one additional positive resident and one positive staff member. All three positive cases were fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
While we must proceed with positive Covid-19 prevention protocols, which include contact tracing, we want to assure everyone that we are doing our best to keep everyone safe. Under the guidance of the Torrington Area Health District and the State of Connecticut Epidemiology office, we will conduct another full round of resident and staff testing on Tuesday and again on Friday this week to help quickly identify any further spread. We are doing everything we can to ensure that we stop the spread of Covid-19 within Geer Nursing, including staying in very close communication with local and state health experts to ensure that we are taking all the appropriate steps. All staff and residents will continue to be monitored closely for signs or symptoms of Covid-19. If your loved one should test positive or become symptomatic of Covid-19 we will notify you immediately.
As we address these cases, all visits will remain on hold until further notice. For those receiving compassionate care visits, you must contact Cady Bloodgood or Melissa Foley to review the precautions. We will continue to offer virtual and window visits on a scheduled basis through our recreation department. To schedule a visit, please contact Jill Simmons, Recreation Director at 860-824-3831 or firstname.lastname@example.org. We understand that connecting with family members is incredibly important to our residents, and you are encouraged to continue to connect virtually.
We will keep everyone informed as we move forward. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
We need your help in battling Covid-19 – Please visit the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) website to learn how you can help prevent the spread in our community at https://portal.ct.gov/Coronavirus.
