Nursing Covid-19 Update 01/07/2021
January 7, 2021
To Our Residents and Family Members:
We are happy to report that this week’s tests for residents and staff are all negative. The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, our new lab, has an excellent turnaround time and we already have results from this week. Unfortunately, all resident results and 35 staff results from last week were lost by the old lab.
We are thrilled to share that we conducted our first dose of vaccine yesterday and 81% of our staff and care partners participated. We anticipate a few more to complete the first dose on the 26th. Of the residents that are medically able we have also had a very high participation rate.
All staff and residents remain without signs or symptoms of Covid-19 and will continue to be monitored closely for any signs or symptoms. If your loved one should test positive or become symptomatic of Covid-19 we will notify you immediately. We are doing everything we can to ensure that we prevent the spread of Covid-19 within Geer Nursing, including staying in very close communication with local and state health experts to ensure that we are taking all the appropriate steps.
Vaccination Dates for Geer Nursing and Rehab Residents and Staff:

Testing: We will continue to take all necessary precautions after the vaccine is administered, including wearing personal protective equipment and conducting routine testing to ensure the safety of our Residents and Staff. Staff at Geer Nursing and Rehab will continue to be tested twice per week and Residents will be tested weekly.
Visitation: We will continue to offer virtual and window visits on a scheduled basis through our recreation department. To schedule a visit, please contact Jill Simmons, Recreation Director at 860-824-3831 or email@example.com. In person visits remain on hold until we can produce negative results for both residents and staff for a full 14-day period.
We need your help in battling COVID-19. Please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website to learn how you can help prevent the spread at https://portal.ct.gov/Coronavirus.
