Nursing Covid-19 update 01/14/2021
January 14, 2021
To Our Residents and Family Members:
We are happy to report that this week’s tests for residents and staff are all negative. This means that we can start to schedule in-person visits again. To schedule a visit, please contact Jill Simmons, Recreation Director at 860-824-3831 or email@example.com.
All staff and residents remain without signs or symptoms of Covid-19 and will continue to be monitored closely for any signs or symptoms. If your loved one should test positive or become symptomatic of Covid-19 we will notify you immediately.
Vaccination update: We are also happy to report that our resident participation in getting the vaccine was very positive. Our Geer Nursing & Rehab Center staff vaccine participation so far is 79% and we anticipate additional staff will be vaccinated, which should bring us to 87% after this next round.
The next vaccination date is Tuesday, January 26th for those getting the second dose or for those receiving their initial dose.
Testing: Now that we have produced negative test results for residents and staff for a full 14-day period, our residents are no longer required to have weekly Covid-19 testing. Our staff will continue to be tested twice weekly based on the high community prevalence per CMS requirements.
The positivity rate in Litchfield County remains above 10% therefore, staff will continue to be tested twice per week. In the event a staff member tests positive, residents will resume weekly testing until negative results are produced for a full 14-day period. All necessary precautions, including wearing personal protective equipment and conducting routine testing will continue to be maintained to ensure the safety of our Residents and Staff.
We are doing everything we can to ensure that we prevent the spread of Covid-19 within Geer Nursing, including staying in very close communication with local and state health experts to ensure that we are taking all the appropriate steps.
We need your help in battling COVID-19. Please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website to learn how you can help prevent the spread at https://portal.ct.gov/Coronavirus.
