Nursing Covid-19 update 1/4/2021

January 4, 2021

To Our Residents and Family Members:

Last week we reported that the results of our staff testing on 12/22/20 resulted in two positive cases. To our knowledge we do not have any more positive staff. Due to increased testing demand across the state, we do not have all test results from last week’s PCR testing for residents or staff. All staff were tested with rapid antigen tests at the end of the week and those results were all negative. All staff and residents remain without signs or symptoms of Covid-19.

Physician One and DPH are aware of the delay in results from the current lab source (Sema4) and have decided to change lab partners starting this week in hopes to get quicker turnaround times for results. The new lab source is the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.

We want to assure you that all necessary precautions have been maintained and continue to be maintained to prevent any spread of the virus to other residents or staff. Our residents continue to be monitored closely for any signs or symptoms of Covid-19. If your loved one should test positive or become symptomatic of Covid-19 we will notify you immediately. We are doing everything we can to ensure that we prevent the spread of Covid-19 within Geer Nursing, including staying in very close communication with local and state health experts to ensure that we are taking all the appropriate steps.
