Nursing Covid-19 Update 2/04/2021

We have received all testing results for both our residents and staff and are pleased to report that all our residents and staff have tested negative since last week.

All staff and residents remain without signs or symptoms of Covid-19 and will continue to be monitored closely.  We will notify you immediately If your loved one should test positive or become symptomatic of Covid-19.

Testing: Our residents will continue weekly testing until we can produce 14 days of negative results among our staff and residents. Our staff will continue to be tested twice weekly due to the most recent staff positive result on January 26, 2021. Residents are tested on Mondays with a nasal PCR. Staff are tested on Tuesdays with a nasal PCR, and again on Fridays with a rapid antigen test. We are pleased the turnaround time on the PCR tests continue to be 24-48 hours. The in-house rapid antigen tests produce a result within 15 minutes.

Vaccination reminder:

Any eligible resident who has not yet received the Covid-19 vaccine can still receive it either at our next vaccination event on February 16, 2021 or by scheduling at our local Walgreens. If your loved one has not received their vaccination and you would like them to, please reach out to our Infection Preventionist Melissa Foley (contact info listed below).

Residents and staff who received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine will receive their second dose on February 16, 2021.

Unfortunately, we must continue to hold off on all “in person” visitation. This week CT DPH clarified with CMS the positivity rates in our state. The most current positivity rate in Litchfield County per CT DPH is 5%. If the positivity rate remains below 10%, we will be able to resume scheduled in person distanced visits once we can produce negative test results for a full 14-day period among our staff and resident populations. As the Covid-19 positivity rate and our Covid-19 status in the facility changes, updated visitation guidelines will change accordingly.  We deeply appreciate your commitment to abiding by these rules as we work to keep your loved ones safe and free of the virus.

We will continue to offer virtual and window visits on a scheduled basis through our recreation department. To schedule a visit, please contact Jill Simmons, Recreation Director at 860-824-3831 or
