Together, we are excited to announce a significant and strategic partnership between Geer Village Senior Community and Integritus Healthcare.
Integritus Healthcare (formerly Berkshire Healthcare Systems) is a leading non-profit provider of post-acute care, long-term healthcare and senior housing in Massachusetts. The majority of their 19 locations are in Berkshire County, but they operate as far away as Cape Cod.
Geer Village Senior Community, also a non-profit healthcare organization, provides a continuum of care to seniors and their families through all stages of aging. Geer has been serving the northwest corner of CT for over 95 years, first as a hospital then changing to a Skilled Nursing Facility. In the early 2000’s Geer added low-income senior housing and an Assisted Living Facility to the campus.
Both non-profit organizations, Board of Directors, have unanimously approved a management agreement whereby Integritus Healthcare will become the Management Company for the Geer Village campus of services. Geer Village will remain the operator of the programs and services but joins the umbrella of 19 entities at Integritus Healthcare.
The Covid Pandemic changed the senior living industry in ways no one could ever have imagined. As a result, Geer Village and Integritus Healthcare have been talking for a few years to determine how best to navigate these changes and position the organizations for long term strategic growth and stability.
This partnership allows both organizations to strengthen their commitment to the senior living industry, share expertise and allows for continued high quality senior living and care options for all the communities we serve. This agreement aligns closely with both entities’ strategic goals.
As a result of these lengthy discussions and resulting partnership, Integritus has chosen to bring Shaun Powell, current CEO and CFO of Geer Village to Integritus Healthcare as their permanent CFO. Shaun will move into this new role over the course of the next several months, while remaining active as the Geer CEO to ensure a smooth transition. As CFO of Integritus Healthcare, Shaun will continue to be intimately involved in the financial operations of Geer. Shaun brings a wealth of executive leadership experience, achievements in financial operations and guiding organizations into improved performance and long-term viability.
The Geer Management Team will remain essential to the success of the organization and work with the Integritus leaders to ensure a successful integration. There will be no layoffs because of this partnership.
